The Generation "Y" refers to the group of humans born throughout the years of the 1980's to the 2000's. This generational group, also commonly referred to as the millennial's, have been given preconceived stereo-types. Some of which of these stereotypes include lazy, entitled narcissists who still live with their parents. Contrary to these beliefs, there are many advantageous characteristics of generation y.
Some of these characteristics include the decrease in the wage gap between men and women, in which the gap between men's yearly income compared to women's is much less significant than in any previous time period. Also, Millennial's are very adaptive, as it is shown through research that many generation y peoples are more welcoming and willing to learn new skill sets and specializations to help them in an ever expanding working world. On that note, there is a tremendous increase in entrepreneurial occupations and creativity in generation y children.
Lastly, the most obvious of advantages in this generational group would be the knack for networking; The internet and various social networking websites have allowed for an incredibly efficient communications network between employers, friends and family which everyone is thankful for. So next time you see a generation Y person in the streets, politely thank them for their contributions to our society today.
